Running Blogger of the Week

I was so proud and honored to be Running Blogger’s Running Blogger of the Week!

I have to tell you, when I first started my running  journey three years ago, I had little confidence that I could run more than a mile. Granted, I was doing P90X full time at this point, with my only cardio support being P90X Plyometrics, some treadmill walks, and walks outside with my husband and dogs. This was far from being a runner.

My first running experience began with my girlfriend Dawn, who inspired me to give it a try. I asked my husband what he thought, because at one point, I do recall him telling me after I gave birth to my girls not to take up running. He said it was bad for my knees. And at my age, I didn’t need bad knees.

But he changed his tune this time around when I asked him again what he thought. “Well, you can always get new knees these days.”

That was all I needed to hear.

On my first attempt, I was quite impressed at how I didn’t get winded at all as we ran around a lake at a local park. In fact, the three miles seemed incredibly easy to manage. I attributed this to the P90X workouts that I already had in place. And a few weeks after that, she encouraged me to sign up for the local 4-mile annual run. I finished it in just under 36:00. And I thought that was pretty dandy. And the rest, as she wrote, was history.

I’m so proud at how far I have come, and I am so proud of those whom I’ve inspired to run including my sister and my BFF’s. It has been quite a journey and I’m grateful to be able to share it with all of you. I have met so many other inspiring Running Bloggers as well, thanks to this forum. I thank you so much for your support.
