Grandma's Marathon Welcome Sign

Yep, we are nearly there. I’m as ready as I’m going to be. Dare I say over-ready. Still I continue to pray for good weather. I can take cloudy, foggy, cool. Just hoping for no wind or rain. Long shot, I know. But worth the prayer.

Today, my Body Glide arrived via Amazon. God, I LOVE Amazon! I also received my 4 bottle Nathan Fuel Belt, but I just can’t get the thing small enough to fit my waist. I’m pretty sure it will have to go back. But since temperatures look to be cool that morning, I will likely not need the extra fluid anyway.

I also scored a $2 sweatjacket at Menard’s today so I have a throwaway at the start line. And I have a basket full of stuff ready to go in the car Friday morning. Mainly, it contains what I’ll need that morning, plus an extra outfit, socks, protein bars, etc. It turns out that I will likely never make contact with my husband until the very end, so there will be little he can do for me during the race.

I listened to a great podcast today from the Marathon Training Academy. The topic I tuned into was one about Marathon preparation and what should be done the week before, the day before, the night before, the hours before and then during the marathon. It was very enlightening. And what I learned shouldn’t surprise me. Basically, do as you have done throughout your training and don’t change a thing. I have been struggling these last few days wondering, “Do I need to bring more? Should I eat more? Should I drink more?”

And the answer is “No.”

So, that being the case, I have to call myself ready. I have to enjoy the moment. I have to know I’m as prepared as I’m gonna be.

Now, I just need to run.
