Some Last Minute Thoughts…

Today we had the opportunity to listen to a few major names in running. Amby Burfoot, Jack Fultz, Greg Meyer, Kathrine Switzer, Bill Rogers, and Boston Marathon race director Dave McGillivray. They were all incredibly inspiring in their own right, but it was something that Dave McGillivray said that stuck with me all day today.

“Those who run Boston tomorrow aren’t running a race. They are making running history.”

He also stated, and I’m paraphrasing here because I can’t remember the exact words…

Tomorrow’s run will be an event. An historic event. It won’t be about times, or places, or PR’s. It will be about being one of the 36,000 who were chosen to run Boston.

Chosen.

It is an honor and a privilege to be running Boston 2014. And I get it now. I get it.

We run. We’ll run Boston Strong. We’ll run for Boston.

To all my fellow runners, run strong. And God speed. See you at the finish line!
