Coffee With A Purpose – #DoctorsChoice Coffee Review

Doctors' Choice Coffee Review

It’s time for me to come clean.

My addiction to coffee is real.

I’ve attempted to deny it many times. I even went so far as to abstain altogether in an attempt to prove that I can and that I would survive without it.

It would appear that I can hold back, and I do survive. But the question becomes, “Why bother?”

After all, there are many health benefits to coffee consumption. From what I understand there might be some drawbacks as well. But, I try to ignore them.

I suppose the biggest drawback of all would be the caffeine. The caffeine itself isn’t a bad thing. What is bad is the way it can interfere with my sleep. Therefore, it is very important that I assign myself a cut off time so that I can at least be assured to give my attempt at sleep a fair shake. Notice, I say “my attempt at sleep” because these days, sleep comes at a premium. I have spent more time trying to determine how to get a good night’s sleep than I have actually sleeping. And that is sad.

But, this post isn’t about sleeping. It is about coffee.

Thanks to Dave Asprey, the Bulletproof Executive, I have learned a lot about coffee. More specifically, the mold toxins that can be contained within. If you don’t know where your coffee is sourced, or if you are a “blend” buyer, chances are you are getting a bad bag of coffee. How would you know this for certain? I can tell you. Test it.

This is very easy to do. Buy yourself a bag of a supermarket blend, and buy yourself a bag of Bulletproof coffee. Drink each for a week, but don’t mix and match. Then, see how you feel. I wouldn’t have believed it if I hadn’t tried it myself but there is a difference, most apparent in mental function. This is the result of the mold toxins. Moldy coffee leaves you feeling blah. Clean coffee improves clarity, focus, and energy.

These days, you can actually find fortified coffees as well. They contain nootropics, an umbrella term for a class of chemicals — some naturally-occurring, some manmade — that give cognitive benefits to the human brain, and appear to boast clarity, focus, and energy. Some of these infused coffees can have interesting effects on health and well being.

A company I was recently introduced to, DOCTORS’ CHOICE® Coffee, makes such infused coffees. What I like about them is that they know exactly where their coffee beans are sourced. They’ve done the research.

Their website is chock full of information. At DOCTORS’ CHOICE® , they infrared roast their coffees. Did you know that infrared roasted coffee enhances the health benefits of coffee as compared to other conventional coffee roasting methods? Studies have shown that compared to conventional roasting, infrared roasting showed less increase in radicals on the bean during and after the roasting process.

DOCTORS’ CHOICE® coffee is also much less acidic than store bought coffee. Many people with stomach sensitivity can now enjoy coffee without getting an upset stomach. DOCTORS’ CHOICE® coffee is a low, low (pH) acid coffee (this is not to be confused with the “acidity” flavor characteristic that is often used to describe the taste of coffee).

Their Boquete Gesha Bean is the bean used for all of their formulations which include a Paleo coffee, a Weight Loss Coffee, and a Memory Support Formula. I can personally vouch for the flavor of the coffees, although I do find the Weight Loss Coffee to be a little sweet. I’m a purebred, all-American, black coffee drinker, so it is a taste I’m not used to. But if you enjoy a fruitier blend, you’ll enjoy this!

I recommend reading all about DOCTORS’ CHOICE®  at their website. You can purchase DOCTORS’ CHOICE®  on Amazon (See links above), which is always a plus if you are a prime member.

DOCTORS’ CHOICE® coffees come only in K-cups right now, and despite the fact that I don’t own a K-cup coffee maker anymore, I can still cut open the cups and use them in my French Press coffee brewer. French Press is the only way to go!

I find a significant boost from a mix of the Paleo coffee and the Memory Support. It is a great way to start your day.

Any other questions about DOCTORS’ CHOICE® coffee? Contact them. I’ve met the creators personally, and they are terrific people who believe in both good health and great coffee!
